One of the primary obstacles that every aspiring guitarist runs into is losing inspiration. This is often due to getting bored in practice times or just giving up when the novelty of learning how to play guitar wears off. If you think you are setting yourself up to be unsuccessful when learning guitar, there is still hope. Here are a few helpful ideas to assist you make your practice times more interesting and enjoyable.

The first way to keep practice times more enjoyable is to practice music that is more interesting. Of course you may have an teacher that wants you to just practice scales all the time but that doesn't suggest you can't throw some songs that you like into the mix as well. If you don't do this one step then you are most undoubtedly setting yourself up to fail because you will soon get bored with what you are working on and lose interest in learning to play the guitar.

The second way to keep rehearsal times much lower on the boring meter is to make sure and practice with a band. Of course, most just starting out guitarists don't have a band that they can practice with. That is where jam-along tracks come in. A jam-along track is a song that has the guitar part removed so that you can effortlessly play along with the band and learn the part while keeping time with a real band. Now if you don't possess a jam-along track or don't know how to find such a thing then the substitute is just to find a ordinary CD of the song that you are trying to learn and use it. Of course you will have to play over the guitar track so it isn't entirely like being in the band but it still helps you learn to keep time and rhythm and it is much more compelling than just trying to rehearse the song by yourself.

The next helpful tip is to make sure you are always playing something unique in your practice times rather than sticking to a song for an entire week. If you keep working on the same concept that you just can't quite get then you will end up being burned out. A better suggestion is to take a lot of breaks and always alternate between multiple songs or riffs that you are working on. By doing this you will effortlessly be able to remember the concepts and still stay motivated enough to go on learning.

If you follow these straightforward steps then you will be well on your way to learning how to play guitar in no time at all. It really isn't as difficult as it looks if you merely put in a consistant rehearsal time and take it one step at a time. I wish you good fortune in all that you do as a musican and make sure to take time to enjoy your trip as you learn and master guitar.
