I own and operate a PC IT consulting and mend business. My primary job is to make the customers' computers work well and trouble free. I found that the majority of my job is in educating customers on the best way to take care of their PCs before issues pop up. An important part of that is pointing them in the right way.

1. Throw more recent and faster hardware at the problem.
When ever I sit down with a customer to discuss their PCs Problems they usually appear to ask if they require a new and quicker computer. In some cases this is true but i have found that about 80 p.c of the time they do not need a new computer. Almost all of the time their computer is fine. In truth most business computer users do not have very big PC hardware needs in any way. Most business software is written to an older computer because they are far more common in the office. Software designers have a tendency to write software that works on the biggest number of computers achievable. The most common reason for slow down on a customers PC is viruses and all the programs that automatically start when the PC first turns on.

2. Add a larger hard drive or clean old programs that are unused off of a tough drive to give the computer more "memory".
I've been asked to get rid of stuff from a customers hard drive to disencumber memory in the computer. I have seen customers remove so much from the hard drive that Windows will not work because they removed a kind of system file. If you're looking for a smother running computer I might suggest putting in the maximum quantity of RAM in an older computer.

3. Running more than one antivirus program multiple firewall programs and spy ware removal systems.
Having a handful of spy ware, virus, and firewalls running on a PC doesn't keep it free of viruses and spy ware better than one program. Actually it will slow down any computer to a crawl by each of these programs running and starting up in the back ground.

Keeping a PC easy by installing just what you need is the easiest way to having a great running PC. Most users that have Problems install many programs on their PCs. The majority of these programs were selected to start up instantly when the PC turns on, and they continue to run in the background for the entire computer session. If you make it simple and limit the amount of programs installed, and the programs that start up when Windows starts you ought to have a pretty good shot a success with your computers.
