You are visiting your friends while watching the kids entertain themselves in the back yard. You can hear them shouting and laughing and having a great time, and when you go to see what they're doing, you find out that they're playing badminton. It's a game completely new to your children, but they certainly are enjoying themselves trying to hit the birdie over the net. They're getting a lot of exercise while they're doing it. At their age that is a great thing. The more they wear themselves out the better. You used to enjoy playing badminton. Come to think of it, you'd probably still enjoy it now and you could certainly use the exercise. So you check with your friend to find out where they had gotten their badminton set.
Your friend actually did a bit of research before they bought their set. You are amazed to find that there could be that many differences in a badminton set. Your friend had selected a set that includes a net, the poles that support the net, four racquets, and several shuttlecocks. The poles are held in place with guy-lines. The net seems to be lower than you remember them being. Curious, you ask your friend if that's the right height. It turns out some of the sets on the market come with a narrower net instead of the regulation net. The reduced height looks weird to you. Your friend also says that they were not happy when they put the net up and found out that it was lower than expected. It hadn't been mentioned in the description and they hadn't even thought about net standards when they ordered it.
They were pleased with the rest of the set though. They had gotten metal poles and they were holding up very well. Other sets come with PVC poles. For recreational play most people aren't that picky when they purchase a badminton set. However, there are differences in the types of racquets offered with badminton sets. So do your research, read the product description carefully, and ask questions before you buy, so the badminton set you get is exactly what you want it to be.
