You might not know it yet, but your credit could already be crashing down. Through your credit report and your credit score, creditors and lenders are able to make sound decisions about your applications. And having bad credit is one thing you should definitely avoid. The effects of having one go far beyond not having your credit and loan applications granted.

Finding out that your credit needs repairs is one of the benefits you can have from regularly availing of the annual free credit report. On the other hand, you can still check your credit report online if you want to. Although it is always best to read your credit report and directly find out whether your credit needs necessary repairs or not, there are several signs that point out to bad credit.

Your credit card applications are denied.

There could be several reasons why credit card companies would not grant your credit card applications. And they wouldn t leave you clueless about this. When your applications get denied, the company will send you an adverse action notice which would inform you of the reasons behind the denial. More often than not though, this means that you need to work on your credit for repairs or build your credit more. If the reasons are about the information on your credit report, you are entitled to a copy of your credit report.

Your electricity is under the name of someone else.

Apart from creditors, insurance companies and banks, utility services also use your credit report to check your financial status. This allows them to decide whether to extend their services for you or not. Of course, if you have poor credit which shows on your credit report, it would be more difficult for you to establish utility services, like electricity under your own name. If you check your credit report, you would understand what negative items affect your credit score.

There are debt collectors knocking on your door.

Well, not really knocking on your door though they could also do that. Most of the time, debt collectors would give you a call to inform you of your dues. This means that your creditors have given up trying to get you to pay your bills. If don t understand why debt collectors are giving you a call, it s a good reason to look at your credit report. You shouldn t let this happen because collections accounts are included on your report. You can repair your damaged credit report from such accounts by paying off the collections.

You can t find someone to co sign your loans.

You won t be able to get the loan you want or need when you have bad credit. Not only that, you would also have difficulties looking for people who are willing to co sign for your loans. Co signing is helpful for those who are trying to build credit, but if you can t even have your family members co sign for you, then that means your credit badly needs repair.

You can t seem to get a job.

Even employers check your credit score or your credit report. So if you can t seem to land a job, it could be because your credit report contains a lot of unpleasant information. This could also be the reason why you can not get promoted. Among positions that require good credit standing are financial and top executive. On a lighter note, not all employers do credit report checks.

You are stopping yourself from checking your own credit report.

Finally, one of the indicators that tell you that you have bad credit that needs to be repaired is the number of excuses you come up with just so you won t have to check your report. This could be because you are actually afraid to discover what s in it. But, remember that the sooner you check your credit, the sooner you can work on your repairs.
