Alanya property is set to become some of the hottest news in the Turkish property market, now that the superb new Alanya airport, AKA Gazipasa is finally set to open. During the boom, Alanya's quiet, relaxing ambience, away from the hustle and bustle of the main resorts led to its popularity soaring with those seeking a move to Turkey. As a result of this more recent growth, Alanya and the surrounding region has one of the largest populations of expats, from Britain and around the world.
However, the fact that the nearest airport was Antalya, which is over an hour away by car, was a major hindrance, preventing investors, holiday home buyers and casual buyers from considering buying Alanya property.
The Gazipasa airport however, which is just a few minutes from Alanya, has now opened its doors, welcoming its first official international flight from a Hamburg International from Germany. Sources from within the airport operator TAV have revealed that the airport's narrow runways are an obstacle to its wider use, but that an expansion is currently underway and due to be finished next year. Once this is complete TAV expects to welcome regular flights from the UK and around the world.
Note that the word new hasn't been used in relation to the Gazipasa airport. That is because the airport isn't new. In fact it was constructed and completed in the early nineties. Since then a slew of legal rigmarole has kept it from opening, despite the best efforts of and false hope from several different companies who have taken over the airport in the past.
The fact that this airport is now a reality, will lead to a surge in demand for Alanya property, and a surge in development to meet the demand. Until now Alanya has been comparatively underdeveloped compared to other regions and towns in Turkey. This will most definitely change now that the area will become as accessible as Turkey's other touristic attractions.
In today's convenience driven society, what used to be considered minor inconveniences are today construed as considerable obstacles for people when considering buying property overseas. With people seeking to visit their second/holiday home for many long weekends throughout the year, it is becoming increasingly important for people to be able to access the properties within a short space of time from arriving in the country.
The new airport at Gazipasa is likely to become a valuable addition to the Alanya property market over the course of the next few years, as people look towards increased accessibility as a factor when buying real estate. Indeed, other regions throughout Southern Turkey have also looked to replicate this, and resorts such as Fethiye, Gocek and Olu Deniz are already benefiting from the large number of new airlines flying into the new Dalaman International Airport.
