Freshwater trout fishing is deservedly popular as it's a great sport. The only way to measure success is to count the number of fish you've caught at the end of the day. If you're just starting out you must take the time to learn a bit about the rivers and ponds trout love. Furthermore, put added effort on gaining knowledge about the actual species you concentrate on catching.

Of course you must also understand and obey the local rules and regulations affecting the place you're fishing. They usually have rules to abide by if fishing on their waters in order to defend the ecosystem and the inhabitants of the rivers or streams. Never break their regulations on fishing it as a rule comes with legal consequences which is not good on your part. Make sure you follow them.

As well as all your fishing equipment don't forget the fishing license most places require you purchase. Ahead of going on a fishing trip be certain that that the license is held and set. Be certain to bring it anywhere you want to go fishing.

Regarding trout there are just 3 basic species for you to know. Primarily is the rainbow trout that is the most common type among the three, then followed by the brown trout and lastly the brook trout. Obviously there are sub-species on top but when you're kust starting out a bit of knowledge is all you need

Here are the 5 great tips that will maximise the chances of you catching plenty of trout:

• The 3 species have many similarities, such as all 3 thrive in cooler waters and most likely are intolerable to temperatures over 70 degrees Fahrenheit. If this happens their eating habits are definitely affected.

• Pick both the right bait and fishing equipment for the best results. The appropriate size should be ultra light to light gears and baits unless of course you opt to catch the Brown Trout of the Midwest wherein heavier gears are much suitable. Using light gears contradicts the idea that they are only used to catch small fish. On the contrary, I myself use a five foot ultra light rod and reel and size 10 hook with live bait.

• When it comes to clothing, what is ideal is to wear dull colors such as brown and grey. This will camouflage the fisherman's presence from his surrounding making him invisible to the trout fishes. Fishes are very alert and wary to anglers and can easily recognize one, especially when wearing loud colors or even white. So be very cautious and avoid wearing these types of shirts.

• The aura of your smell is also a substantial factor that fishes can easily detect fishers. It is not necessarily the perfume you are wearing or the deodorant or the shampoo or whatever scent you use for the body. By far and away the worst small is tobacco. As you know smokers stink of tobacco and the fish can sense it on his hands and clothes Whatever he touches gets contaminated with the smell, right again?

So if you are the fisherman and are smoking during your fishing trip the hooks, the baits or any gears that you put your hands on will also elicit that smell thus alarming the trouts. To avoid the perils of losing the presence of trout, the best thing to do is to rub your hand with weeds or dirt every now and then to ensure that no unnatural smell scares the fish away.

• You must ensure you bait looks natural as if it doesn't the trout porbably won't bite.

With these simple and easy to follow guidelines river trout fishing should be successful.
