We are a consumer society, no matter if it sounds provoking to a number of people. It simply runs in the genes, so as you see a crowd of people dashing to the superstore to obtain some new product (just look at any "cool gadget" that is being advertised on the Television), don't you feel that it appears to be like not a great deal different from locusts, flying to a grassland?

A number of people, needless to say, look at the worldwide consumerism from the other viewpoint. It is inevitable and it is a fragment of the human character, so why try hard altering it on a international level? Would not it be way better to start from altering this kind of things yourself to begin with, giving an pattern to other people? So, if it is not a necessity of life, I would personally consider the aesthetic edge of something I would consider buying. This goes with no saying if we speak about jewelry, for instance.

A short time ago my dad and mom and I were thinking over some jewelry gift for my younger sister on her 21st birthday. In the end, we shortlisted the styles of jewelry we considered at all to a ring or a bracelet. Within a few days we found out that the bracelet appears not to be in my sister's preferred idea of desire…(which we by coincidence learnt from her reaction to a bangle on some public figure on the TV). Additionally, we actually considered the ring more from the start, because we all wanted it to have a precious diamond, and with this in mind, a ring appeared to be the top option.

Our net hunt end up with the magnificent black titanium ring (very fashionable metal used in present jewelry) with the 1.25 ct. vivid-yellow lab grown diamond. Now, knowing a little about the metal (I've dealt with the black titanium wedding bands some time before) my attention was drawn to the fact that the diamond was lab grown. Does it mean it was not a true diamond? The site emphasized that it was genuine one, but how come it cost 20% less than "non-lab grown" ones (oh, yes, we've done quite a investigation on the prices :)

My Dad checked the Net, and a bunch of fascinating details were presented to me over the telephone. Yes, lab frown diamonds are true diamonds and they have all qualities of the natural diamonds that are mined. And being a lab grown diamond, it has an added significance - it is what is called a "blood free" diamond. As you may perhaps have heard, the majority of the natural expensive diamonds are mined in Africa, in the countries that have been (and some still are) involved in regular ethnic wars, that are typically backed with the funds made from the diamonds deals, that originated in those countries. In addition, there are grim legacies of the wars in that region - the mine fields. It's a disgrace, but these fields are left "as is" even after the armed conflict is ended, and it is civil people that are damaged the most. That is why these diamonds are considered bad ones and are frequently labeled as blood diamonds or conflict diamonds.

On the other hand, lab grown diamonds are entirely conflict-free, which encourages people to, at least in this method, fight with injustice happening in Africa. A few ethical diamond merchants even use a portion of the money to aid people in Africa - by means of the help of worldwide organizations, the money is used to clear out mine fields. Igloo diamonds does it in Angola, for example.

Therefore, having learnt that info, we were confident to go for that superb black titanium tension setting ring with the lab grown, non-conflict diamond. Having ordered a custom ring from one of only two (as it appeared!) design houses that are manufacturing true black titanium rings, we have been eagerly awaiting the joyful occasion, hoping that our gift for such an important date would be just right. And we were not mistaking - not just the whole birthday party went splendidly, but my little sis (well, she will for all time be my little sis :) was genuinely impressed with the ring and its story, she even used the subject of the lab-grown diamonds for one of her college written works later on. But - that is a completely different story…
