Play Time: Hulot (Tali) drifts through an unrecognizable modern Paris of steel and glass skyscrapers. Scene and noise gags abound in this superbly created film. The tale has been remunerated and emphasized as long as can be remembered, however nothing could top this original, simple account with startlingly transparent footage that looks as if it was shot this morning. No End in Sight: A masterful big screen production tantamount of the plethora novels that share on-the-record accounts from prior armed forces and covert operations outfits to clarify how the Bush management jumped before it looked in 2003 before invading Iraq. Pale Rider: This Eastwood Western starts out just fine, the legend of a gun slinger going to the help of some battling miners, however ends up being slow, conceited, and unexciting with so much cloning of Shabe as to be preposterous. Aguirre the Wrath of God: A commanding, spellbinding story of a misled conquistador who leads a group of men from Europe in 1560 to South America on a journey looking for the 7 cities of gold. The dreamlike film was shot on location in remote Amazon forests; Kinski is perfect as the crazy Aguirre. Cast includes Klaus Kinski, Ruy Guerra, Del Negro, Helena Rojo, Cecilia Rivera, and Peter Berling. (94 minutes, 1972)
Sensations of 1945: The fame hungry Powell shows journalist O'Keefe how to become successful in this campy musical. One marvelous number has her tap dancing inside a mammoth pinball game. Cast includes Eleanor Powell, Dennis O'Keefe, C. Aubrey Smith, Eugene Pallette, W. C. Territories, Cab Calloway, and Sophie Tucker. (86 minutes, 1945)
The Far Country: Cattleman Stewart, a verified hermit, brings his herd to Alaska and finds nothing but trouble. A different Western set against vibrant backdrop of mining camp towns. Little Vegas: Discreet comedy about some unconventional characters in a trailer park in a barren region that Mafia developers desire to turn into a smaller version of Vegas.
