Anybody can grow plants. Even if you are fairly convinced that you kill all plants there is no reason you too can't grow your own garden. Successful gardening is little more than being patient and doing research on what you want to grow. The fact is that starting a garden that thrives involves little more than following directions and paying attention to what it is that you are growing.

Black thumbs do not exist. If you have been thinking about starting a garden, here are some simple hints and tips that you can use to help you succeed.

Try not to let your seedlings dry out all the way. Even though it's true that there are some plants that prefer to grow in dry soul it is also true that those plants still need some water. All seedlings will need at least a little bit of water. You don't have to create muddy conditions, of course, but a little moisture is required to keep your seedlings alive. How much water you provide to your plants is going to depend upon which types of plants you are trying to raise in your garden. Learn the amount of water they need and how often they need it before you plant your seedlings. You don't want your garden to drown or dry out! Most of gardening is simply sticking to a routine. As time goes on you will get into a schedule and just know instinctively how to take care of your garden every day. You will learn when to do the weeding, how to check to make sure the garden is not drying out, when to add nutrients and when to add compost to your garden. Put together a schedule of your own and then follow it. The reason many beginner gardeners' gardens die is because they get bored and forget about or ignore the amount of work that needs to be done to keep the garden healthy.

If you have never ever started your own garden before you might not want to start out with a packet of seeds and some dirt. Your luck might be better if you buy plants, which have already begun sprouting. This way your job is almost entirely maintenance based as you get your garden thriving. Your worries about whether the plants will grow will decrease. Dying plants will be your only concern. You can try your luck with seedlings next year, as you will have had some experience. Another reason to start with sprouted plants is this: some plants grow every year whether or not you have planted new seeds-the bulbs simply stay dormant until the next blooming season!

Starting your own garden is great! Admit it: you kind of like playing around in the dirt and having an excuse to get dirty.

Gardening probalby makes you feel like you're a child again. This is one of the main reasons that people are so dedicated to their gardening hobbies. They enjoy the work that goes into growing plants!
