Google Adwords is an extremely effective way to advertise online, but it has a certain learning curve. It's fairly common for beginners at AdWords to make errors that prevent them from succeeding. Given below are a few simple mistakes that you should to stay away from.

Using common keywords that are too broad, is the simplest mistake most Adwords advertisers make. This only affects your advertising budget, by causing you to loose money. For example, if you go ahead and target a common keyword like "furniture", you'll get the opposite results of what you actually want. The possibility that someone using this as their search word is searious abou tbuying something is pretty slim. Hence, why you need more focused keywords. Broad scope keywords will not bring people to your site who are truly interested in your product. Another reason for narrow focused keywords is they have less competition. This is also one of the best ways to reduce your ad costs. Try to think like your prospects when you are looking for the right keyword.

Your AdWords campaign depends on a variety of factors, but the one element that's critical is your choice of keywords. You should use a keyword tool that you are comfortable with and take the time to learn how to use it effectively. Taking the time to do your market research allows you to get off on the right foot with your AdWords campaign.

Some advertisers lose money with AdWords and then decide that it doesn't work. They end up quitting before they ever learned much about it. What should they have done differently?

Remember this always: negative keywords are your best friends in PPC advertising. Negative keywords will improve your quality score, help make your ads more targeted, and they'll filter out unwanted impressions. There is usually a special place where you will list your negative keywords. Your main keywords/phrases may have words that will not help you, so just remove them from your campaign.
