Christian Dior was born in France on 21st January, 1905, and was a man celebrated for his inventiveness. Coming from a family which dealt with manufacturing chemicals and fertilizers, he streamed right in the opposite direction but quite successfully producing a identify for himself within the fashion fraternity which conferred him a lot of accolades for his creative manner of dealing with clothing. He was a master of his trade leaving no loose ends to grumble about. Though his style was different from the standard, it was this uniqueness that gave him an impetus to make his designs viable worldwide. He had brought with his designs a revolution in women's attires once again making Paris as a centre of the fashion business.
Christian Dior was an influential fashion designer and the originator of the Doir Empire. He attended the École des Sciences Politiques to meet with his parent's requests. Despite the fact that his family wished that he would become a diplomat, much to their amazement their child was more involved in art rather than being a diplomat. To make money he used to trade his fashion sketches at 10 cents apiece. He opened a small art gallery in 1928 using the funds he received from his father. But due to the family's financial ruin he was required to close his gallery and worked with Robert Piguet who soon after joined the fashion house where he and Pierre Balmain had been the key designers. In 1945 he went into production for himself, backed by Marcel Boussac, the cotton-fabric tycoon. He opened his own fashion house in 1946 and presented his first collection by the name "Corolle" which popularly acquired the name New Look. Famous for the sensual looks given to his clothing, he was a master at producing shapes and silhouettes. He died on 23rd October, 1957.
After his first design, which had already ensured his place in the worldwide forum of fashion, his later concepts also made a significant impact on the ramp. The H-line in 1954 and the A-line in 1955 became as popular as the earliest one and people started to look upto him as a source of inspiration. The enterprise expanded not only in terms of stores but in addition ventured into further forums.
