Candle making is a craft that can turn out to be a pretty exciting past time or an investment. It was, however, in 1995 that soy candle wax came out in the market.The new discover, soy candles, was then formerly sold by The Body Shop.Around this period, beeswax and almond oil candles were also products of The Body Shop. The introduction of soy wax paved way to the replacement of almond oil because it was less costly to produce.

As Richards was procuring tests on candles with hydrogenated soybean oil in 1996, he developed a wonderful substitute for beeswax.

In 1997, the University of Iowa started to experiment more with soy wax. The University published their project paper - Increasing the Use of Soybeans in the Manufacturing of Candles. The benefits of soy wax was more known as the research pushed through in 1999, dwelling more on the characteristics from the combustion components of candles that are created from hydrogenated soybean oils and hydrogenated vegetable oils. These publications talked about the huge benefits for our home environments of burning cleaner and longer, with less soot, as well as from being inexpensive to manufacture.
