Anyone trying to remove a stain knows how frustrating it can be. Whether it is grass, ink, wine, or any other type of stain, it can difficult to clean. Fortunately, there are a few simple tricks one can use to get rid of stains.

Before you use any cleaning trick, it is important to remember that the longer a stain sits, the more difficult it will be to remove. As well, if you are going to remove the stain from a sensitive place such as a carpet, make sure you do a test spot on an inconspicuous area so you know you will not be damaging any material.

Hairspray: Using hairspray is a simple stain removing technique. Acquire an unscented hairspray in a bottle that is not an aerosol spray. Pour about a tablespoon of hairspray on the stain and let it sit until you see it start to lift. It normally takes a minute or two for noticeable lightening to take place. Rinse the stain in cold water until you have removed the hairspray from the spot. Mix a tablespoon of laundry detergent in a small container or bowl of cold water. Dip a soft cloth in the bowl of detergent. Wash the stain thoroughly.

Once the stain is clean, soak a cloth in cold water and wash out any remaining detergent.

Glycerin: Dip a cotton swab or soft cloth into the glycerin. Rub it into the stain. After a few minutes of rubbing or dabbing (if you are cleaning delicate material), you should notice that the stain is disappearing. This is a useful method for removing an ink stain. Dip a soft cloth in the bowl of detergent. Wash the stain thoroughly. Once the stain is clean, soak a cloth in cold water and wash out any remaining detergent.

Whole Milk: Soak the stained article of clothing in whole milk for 30 minutes. Fill the washer in the pre-wash stage. Mix in the detergent. Remove the clothing from the whole milk and let it soak for about 20 minutes in the washer. Then, continue with the washing cycle.

Talcum Powder/Corn Starch: Rinse the stained material in cold water. Mix talcum powder or corn starch in a little dish of water so that it is like a paste. Apply the paste to the wet stained area. Leave it on the stain for an hour and then wipe it off. Then, run the stained area under hot water. Wash the material in the clothes washer as normal. This is a useful way of removing grease and oil stains.

Peroxide: Pour some peroxide on the stained area and let it bubble for a few minutes. Rinse the material in cold water and then wash as normal in a washing machine.

Lemon: Lemon is a great way to remove rust stains from clothes. Squeeze a lemon and let the juice run on the stain. Let the rust stain sit in the sun until dry. Wash as normal. The rust should be gone.

Removing stains does not have to be a difficult task. With a few simple and inexpensive techniques on house cleaning, it will be no time before you see the stain disappear.
