Sweating is a healthy mechanism employed by our body to regulate body temperature by the evaporation of fluid from the surface of the skin. Excessive sweating can be a most annoying and unpleasant ailment to live with with some sufferers undergoing surgical procedures to rectify. Conversely the absence of sweating might also be a symptom of something more sinister and medical advice must be sought.

Sufferers of excessive sweating can in too many instances shy away from normal social interaction and may lead to clinical depression and lack of confidence in normal every day tasks. The most frequently problematic areas are underarm sweat, foot sweat, genital sweat and head sweat commonly referred to as flop sweat.

A great many people use underarm antiperspirant deodorant as a most convenient solution with aluminum salts as the active ingredient. The aluminum salts work by a blocking mechanism on the fluids released from the ducts. This temporary solution can in some instances, particularly those with sensitive skin, result in severe irritation causing further discomfort to the sufferer with little or no alleviation from the original troublesome ailment.

In the case of foot and hand sweat a dermatologist might recommend a treatment known as iontopherisis which is a painless method implementing the passage of a low current through a solution normally water and is believed to promote the thickening of the outer layers of skin in the affected areas which in turn restricts the passage of sweat from exiting those areas of sweat permeation.

For those wishing for a more permanent method of sweating treatment, a surgical procedure can be carried out during which the sweat glands are rendered entirely dysfunctional through the excision of the sweat gland nerves. This method does indeed result in the riddance of a sweating problems suffered but with the loss of the body's natural temperature regulation mechanism which has been considered unhealthy by opposition to this form of remedy.
