Reducing inflammation is a two-step process that is relatively easy but is possibly as important a nutritional move as you can make. The method is important but the key is consistency. Erratic dedication leads to erratic health.
Inflammation is what happens when your immune system gets out of balance. Many of today's biggest health concerns are linked to inflammation of the body - cancer, heart disease, digestive system issues and brain related problems.
On one hand, this imbalance is caused by too much white bread, vegetable oils, fried foods, dairy products and processed foods. On the other hand, the average Westerner is simply not getting enough of the omega 3 essential fatty acids found in fish oil.
Omega 3s are a natural anti-inflammatory that help a healthy body do what is capable of doing. That is fighting disease or outside contaminants without over reacting.
For instance, certain types of arthritis are nothing more than inflamed joints. The body has sent too many white blood cells and chemicals to the joint area. The swelling causes pain and stiffness. Reducing inflammation with omega 3s also reduces the pressure and can restore mobility.
Here is the problem. More than 90% of us do not get enough omega 3s. In fact, we are not even close. The FDA and others believe that 2-3 grams of fish oil omega 3s per day are useful for maintaining a healthy adult’s immune system. The FDA also recommends a maximum of two servings of seafood per week. Other experts think even that is too much.
This is why the fish oil supplement market is growing so rapidly. It is extremely difficult to get even a minimum dosage through our diets.
A recent study from Finland followed 21,000 people for about 11 years. People who consistently took about 250mg of omega 3 fish oil supplements had a 50% reduction in cardiovascular disease over those who did not. Notice that consistently taking even small doses was successful in reducing inflammation.
As I mentioned earlier, reducing inflammation is a two step process. Change your diet. Get more leafy greens and even occasionally fish into the plan. However, it is unlikely that things will improve dramatically unless you help your body on a daily basis.
Let us assume that today your immune system is totally in balance. Tomorrow, you stop taking the omega 3s. In about three months your cells will start breaking down and loading up with various fats that are not needed. The risk factor of various diseases will now start to increase.
If reducing inflammation is really your goal, then step 2 is to start looking into the fish oil supplement market. In life, everything depends on balance. Begin now. A healthier body and more focused mind can become very addictive - in a good way. My website can be a good first step [Okay. That makes it a 3 step process].
