If you own a blog or website, I am sure you know that it is crucial for you to get visitors (the more the better). One way to do that is through search engine marketing. In this article, I will share with you the two most popular search engine marketing methods.
In a nutshell, search engine marketing is a process where you optimize your blog or website to rank on the first page of search engine's result page (or the first page of Google, Yahoo and Bing).
To do that, the first step is to pick the the right keywords. By the "right keywords", we mean keywords that have at least 3 or more words. Don't pick keyword that only has two or less words.
For example: "how to train a siberian husky puppy".
This keyword is also known as long-tail keywords.
Why choose long-tail keywords? Well simple... they are easy to get ranked on top of Google.
Next, you would need to construct an interesting and entertaining article. Good quality articles will attract more visitors and people will start bookmarking your blog or submit to your rss feed so that they can come back and read more of your articles.
Next is building links to your blog or website. Links pointing from other websites or blogs to your blog is important to maintain your position on the first page of Google.
Why links from other websites or blogs are so important?
In the search engine's eyes, a link from other website to your website is like a vote. The more votes your blog has, the more authority it will get. And high authority sites are considered as trustworthy sites. Sites that have high authority will rank very well on the search engine's result page.
The abovementioned search engine marketing method is also known as search engine optimization or SEO. It does require some time and effort on your part in order to perform SEO on your blog or website.
There is another search engine marketing method, this one is a paid method - meaning that you will need to pay to use it. But if done right, this paid method can bring you immediate web traffic.
The paid method we are talking about here is called: Pay Per Click or PPC Marketing. For example, Google Adwords is the best and most powerful PPC marketing system currently available on the web.
Signing up an account in Google Adwords is free of charge. However, you need to pay when you set up your ad campaign to promote your blog or site. The cost is based on click and the price depends on the keywords that you want to advertise. Some keywords can cost up to $10 per click; the cheapest one is 5 cent per click.
