Every article directory has different requirement regarding the length of the article. The article should contain at least 250 words. However, it is recommended that the article has 400 – 700 words. The minimum word count requirement is listed in the submission guidelines. The article should not contain more than 5000 words. If the article is too long, it will be rejected by the article directory. Furthermore, no visitor will be interested in reading article that is long. People want to read article that is short so that they can skim through the points. The shorter the article the higher the conversion rate will be.
When you provide a lot of information in the article, the visitors will be less interested in visiting your website. The title of the article should not be repeated in the content. The content of the article must be related on the article. You cannot talk about another things when the title is indicate another subject. The title and article must be related in some way. It is best not to include HTML tags in the body unless the article directories allowed. The links should be placed in the resource box. If you want to include links in the article body, you have to check whether the article directory allow it. Some article directories such as Go Articles allow you to include live links within the article while others only allow you to include invalid links within the article. To ensure your article get accepted, you should avoid putting the link within the content.
Many article directories allow you add summary to the article. The summary is a short description about the article. The summary should contain two to five sentences. It should not contain too many words otherwise people won’t read it. If you don’t want to write a unique summary, you can use the first paragraph of the article as summary. Using the first paragraph as summary can cause duplication problem. This is because the summary is displayed on the homepage and the search result. Even though the summary is written by you, it will still be considered as duplicated by the search engine. The author name should not be included in the summary. The website URL and email address must never be mentioned in the summary. The summary also should not have HTML tags. The summary should briefly describe the content of the article. In order to attract the attention of the users, you must write an interesting summary. It should be a short introduction to the article. It is recommended that you don’t include the title of the article in the summary.
When submitting to the article directories, make sure you choose the right category. If you submit the article under the wrong category, it will be rejected by the editor. The article should be submitted to the most relevant category in the article directory. For example, if your article is about how to make a cake, you should submit under the cake category and not under the cooking category. If you submit your article under the wrong category, the visitors may have problem finding it. The visitors in a certain category are highly unlikely to be interested in reading articles on another topic.
