Skin pigmentation is regarded by many as an annoying skin problem. If you suffer from uneven pigmentation there are few things you can do to deal with this problem.

Skin pigmentation is determined by the two types of melanin that our skin possesses. One of these types is red, and the other one is brown, and the type and amount of melanin that you have are determined by four to six genes that are inherited from each one of your parents. This mixture of genes determines what different skin tones you will end up with.

A lot of it too is theorized to be whether or not you or your parents are from a sun intensive region of the earth. For example, those that grow up in Africa tend to have skin that is very dark in order to prevent them from developing low folate levels. The very opposite effect took place when humans began to migrate to less sun intensive climates.

The reason that these people developed lighter skin pigmentation was due to the fact that in less sun rich environments there was a problem with low vitamin D levels. Their skin was simply too dark to be able to effectively absorb the vitamin D from the sun so their evolution to fairer skin was necessary for their health. Diet can also play a role in the skin tone that you have.

The Inuits for example live in the most extremely sun poor environment on the planet, and yet their skin maintains a brownish tone. This is primarily due to the fact that they don t need to get their vitamin D from the sun. These people subsist on a diet that is made up almost solely of fish, which are rich in the vitamin D that they need as well as many other nutrients.

It is thought that our ancestral skin pigmentation was more than likely brown, and that migration made the evolution of skin tone necessary. It is through migration to other regions that we all look the way that we do. We all may not have skin tones that are exactly alike, but we all share many of the same skin care problems such as uneven pigmentation,

If uneven skin pigmentation is something that is troubling you there are methods for dealing with this problem, and lightening up the darker patches to blend in with the rest of your complexion is possible. There are remedies that will even out the tones of your skin to give you the even tones that you are seeking, and they are safe and easy for you to use.

If you use skin lightening products but they don t have much effect on your skin, then your next option should be a skin treatment to get rid of skin pigmentation. The best are lasers (IPL) and chemical peels. If you decided to go for one of these skin treatments, find an experienced and qualified doctor which will give you all the necessary guidelines for this procedure.
