Some people are made to work for others for life, others are more on the entrepreneurial side. There is nothing wrong in both, it is just a choice we make in life.
Few of us work for a job and work their way up the corporate ladder until they reach the very top. Some prefer to work for a while and then decide to become their own boss.
Many of us feel that they have found their dream job and are willing to work until they reach their retirement age. However, in today economic situation, very few people can work till the retirement age even if they want to. When the economic crisis hit, many lost their jobs immediately.
Maybe in the beginning you felt as though you had landed on your dream job, but when you look at how things are now, nothing seems right. That is normal.
Not everyone was made for the office setting and politics. If any of the following sound familiar to you, then maybe you should consider quitting your job and work for yourself:
- You feel that you are overworked but underpaid.
- You hate your job.
- You hate getting up early in the morning and get ready to go to work.
- You want freedom.
If any of the items above creep into your mind from time to time, then it is obvious that you and your job are not a right fit; so what are you still doing there? Honestly speaking, there really is no point in staying in one place where you do not see yourself flourishing anymore. You could be doing the same thing for a number of years and it would not matter. It is time for you take on a new adventure... It is time for you to make a real decision for yourself.
Here are two alternatives you can consider besides holding a 9-to-5 job:
1. Start an online business.
It is easy to start an online business these days. All the tools and technologies are there to help you succeed. All you need is a strong determination and discipline to succeed. This business doesn't require you to invest much but it can be very rewarding if you set up the business the right way. Check out my author resource box below for more information on how to start a profitable online business.
2. Work freelance. With the same skills and the same training, you can efficiently maneuver yourself around the business. Pick from where you left off and continue doing what you love to do, but this time at your own pace. By being a freelancer you may not be able to charge as much but all of the income is yours, and more importantly, the full credit will be yours. It may be a bit of a struggle in the beginning, but eventually you will find your way to the top. Your service will be your advertisement and your work will be your calling card. Soon enough, opportunities will come knocking on your door, so be ready for its arrival.
These alternatives are worth considering because they allow you to start without having to quit your full-time job. You see, not everyone is ready to quit their full-time job and start a business on their own. If you already have a family and children, you need to make sure that you have a stable income source because you need to put foods on the table.
On the other hand, if you are still single, it is a whole lot easier to make the decision because you don't have many commitments when you are still single. If you have a very strong entrepreneurial spirit inside you, then go for it, follow your heart and make that decision.
If quitting your job is not a good option right now, no problem! Just open your eyes and mind for good opportunities. They will come knocking at your door if you open your mind to spot them. When one comes your way, grab it and make it happens.
