In fact, we need self confidence in almost all aspects of our lives. When we are building our career, we need self confidence. When we get married and raise a family, we need self confidence. When we get into a business venture, we need self confidence. I can go on and on here.
But, how do you build your self confidence?

Lets talk about LOW self-esteem first, and how does it come about.
One of the main contributing factors to low self esteem is unrealistic expectations. We expect ourselves to achieve too much. Also, in today competitive environment, people around us sometimes have unrealistic expectations on us. When we fail to meet that expectation, we fell into the hole of LOW self esteem.
To counter that, you should set your own realistic expectation. Do not compare others with you because we all go through life differently. We all go through a different process. You can learn from others but you should not compare yourself to others.
Set realistic goals that are based according to your own capacity or resources. And work diligently to achieve the goals that you have set. When you set achievable goals and attain them, you are actually boosting your own self confidence. This is a great way to build a solid self confidence within you.
You may already have heard the phrase - "its all in the mind". And to many psychological and emotional conditions, we can actually say that everything is all in the mind. They rooted and develop from the mind and so, always strive to cultivate a positive mindset as positive mindset is more receptive to positive inputs.
When you grow, don't forget to grow your mind too!
You see, when you have a good and positive mind, you are in control of your own feeling and attitude. This will lead you to take the actions needed to achieve your goals.
Many of us forget to grow and nurture our mind. That is why we see many 40 old years men and women acting like a child. The are caught unaware with their own words and actions. We sometimes fail to check ourselves of the things we are registering in our subconscious mind and this can be very detrimental.
You may not have deliberately said it recently but since you are used to hearing yourself mumble - "I am a looser", or "I'm not worthy of anything", your subconscious mind will believe that these are the facts. So, be very careful of injecting words into your mind.
To have a healthy and positive mind, you need to inject positive words into it. Your mind is just like your physical body, if you put in good foods into your body and you exercise regularly, you will have a healthy body. If you put in junk foods into your body and have a sedentary lifestyle, then you will have an unhealthy body. Your mind works the same way!
To build self confidence, it must begin from you. Start to work on your mind. Instead of saying "YOU CAN'T", say "YOU CAN". Instead of saying "I AM A LOSER", say "I AM A WINNER!" Instead of saying "I AM USELESS", say "I AM USEFUL". Make this part of your habit, when a negative statement tries to get in, immediately switch it to a positive one. You can do that if you want to!
